Family: Jason Laney is a wizard. His wife, and Maura's mother, was a muggle, who went by Karen Laney. She died giving birth, however.

Brief History: Maura Laney was born on a cool April night. Lightning crackled in the background. It was rainy, not exactly making it the perfect night for the birth of a baby girl. The birth was too much for her mother, who died giving birth. Maura was placed in the ICU under extra precautions. She went home in less then a week, to a grieving husband. He took her in, one of the main reasons being she was the only living reminder of his wife. Maura grew up, but was treated as an outsider. She didn't have many friends, thus making her bitter. However, the bitterness didn't last long. When she got her acceptance letter to Hogwarts when she was 11, she felt she would be able to go in. However, she was teased a little for being a Mudblood. Maura kept her head held high, determined to not let that get to her. She was courageous in everything she did, and eventually became a very young; and good leader..
Physical Appearance: Maura has a heart shaped face. Her eyes are a mix of gray and brown from her parents. Her hair is a dark, chocolate brown. Her nose isn't very long, and compliments her face. Her skin is quite pale, but she has rosy cheeks. Her eyebrows are shaped well, but don't show often due to her hair. Her hair reaches a little past her shoulder blades. She is small for her age, sometimes being called 'Lil Bit by her friends.
Personality: Maura can be very bitter, and pull herself from people. However, with her being a leader, she has learned to put her classmates first. She is a very good leader, and looks danger in the eye. She is very caring, and she has a motherly instinct. She smiles alot, and she is normally a very cheery person. She takes Defense Against The Dark Arts very seriously, and normally everything that involves using her magic. She is very skilled in DADA, and Potions.
